About me

A small introduction about my self

Jorge Castellote

Software Engineer from Madrid

Cloud Enthusiast and Open Source lover, I combine large experience on operations with development expertise to adapt or migrate Systems, Apps and development teams to Agile methodologies. In a nutshell, I can help releasing better software and faster, and/or operate it more efficiently.

On the operations side, I have spent half of my career on operations. Upgrading, rolling out, scaling, configuring and integrating systems that operate to improve networks' efficiency has been my daily life for many years, both at Ericsson and InfoVista. This has granted me with good knowledge on Linux and Unix systems, among with the need of measuring and monitoring everything in an efficient and accessible way, and the necessity to automate operations (and its risks). Because of this experience with Performance Management, I am very used to measuring and analyzing the impact of operations on larger ecosystems like MNO and ISP networks.

I also had the chance to work on the R&D side, understand their procedures and working methodologies as a product manager, which I then exported to the operations team, so Customers could enjoy more agile customizations, new features, safer and more controlled upgrades, etc...

When it comes to DevOps and advanced Sysadmin activities, I can provide end to end services to deploy and maintain clouds, container clusters, help with microservicing components or apps (when actually convenient), automate and implement CI/CD pipelines, which includes performance analysis, automated tests, vulnerability analysis and more.

On the other hand, if the company does not develop the software, but rather makes use of it, I can help automating environments, implement and automate safer and more efficient upgrades, expand the solution by integrating other software, isolating every role and component as much as possible so the final solution gains flexibility and is easier and cheaper to scale.
